MiSTEM Region of Macomb County covers nearly 500 square miles and is home to over 860,000 people, including over 130,000 students in K-12 public school classrooms. It is a beautifully diverse region that stakes claim to the gremomatest stretch of Lake St. Clair shoreline. Its eastern cities and townships embrace the recreational and business opportunities that come with being a lakefront community on a significant body of water near the Great Lakes Shipping channel. The county stakes claim to over 70,000 business owners and 1,700 unique STEM industries. These businesses require an educated work force and a large part of Macomb’s strength in STEM education lies in the close, collaborative efforts of the 21 districts in the county. These districts represent 239 schools and work together with leadership and educational support from the Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD) to provide a rich educational experience to every child.
